Mitchell Valley Animal Hospital

With years of experience and a passion for companion animal health, Mitchell Valley Animal Hospital was established in 2014, by Dr. Somer Pieper, DVM. From the outside, you may think that Mitchell Valley is another “Small Town” animal clinic, but open the doors and you will see much more. Mitchell Valley Animal Hospital couples “Small Town” compassion and care, with modern medical technology and the most knowledgeable, friendly staff around. Additionally, our high quality of care standard is verified with our AAHA accreditation. Dr. Somer Pieper, DVM

Dr. Pieper was raised in Sidney, NE on her family’s wheat farm. She started her career in veterinary medicine at an early age at Sidney Veterinary Hospital working during high school for Dr. Ken Cook. Dr. Pieper completed her Bachelors and Masters degree at Chadron State College where she met her husband, Jeff Pieper. While attending CSC, Dr. Pieper continued experience in veterinary medicine at Panhandle Veterinary Clinic with Dr. Gamby. In, 2008 Dr. Pieper graduated with her degree in veterinary medicine from Kansas State University, College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Pieper has one beautiful daughter, Kate, who attends Mitchell Junior/Senior High School. Her husband Jeff, enjoys his hay farming and Red Angus herd.

In her free time, Dr. Pieper enjoys attending her daughter’s lamb shows, cooking, shopping, and relaxing with her family!

Amber Held, LVT

Amber was born and raised in Scottsbluff, NE on her family farm.  She graduated from NCTA where she obtained her Associates in Veterinary Technology.  Amber has worked in multiple progressive vet clinics in Wyoming and Nebraska over the years. 

She and her husband Alan moved back home to raise their family in the Scottsbluff area . Alan teaches high school at SHS.  They have a son named Creedon who is a very active country kid that enjoys farm animals, archery, hunting and scouts.  

Amber enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and has multiple horses, dogs and other pets.

Brianne Hubbard, LVT

Brianne was born and raised in Mitchell, NE on her family’s farm south of Mitchell. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 2013.

Brianne completed her Associates in Animal Science at Eastern Wyoming College, While attending EWC, Brianne started her vet tech career working at Bear Creek Veterinary with Dr. Pieper and continued on with Dr. Pieper as she started her new hospital.

Growing up Brianne was very active with livestock showing 4-H and FFA. These activities led her to meet her husband Kaden who is a sales agronomist at Legacy Coop. They have a daughter, Bayler and a son Bridger.

In her free time Brianne enjoys her show ewe flock, going to livestock shows and spending time with family.

Kassity Denbo, Veterinary Assistant

Kassity was raised in Valentine, NE along the Niobrara river. She graduated high school in 2022 from Valentine Rural High school. She participated in Nebraska High School Rodeo and FFA.

Kassity Attended Eastern Wyoming College for 1 year for Vet Tech and Beef Production before starting at Mitchell Valley Animal Hospital. She worked through high school at her local mixed animal practice, Butler Veterinary Clinic.

Kassity has 2 dogs that she spends majority of her free time with, Lux and Jade. She also enjoys rodeoing and jackpots. She loves spending time outside with family and friends.

Jo

Jo was born and raised in Longmont, Colorado. She graduated from Lyons High School in 2004.

She attended Chadron State College for 1 year where she met her husband Josh, who owns and operates his own remodeling and restoration company. They have three daughters, Brooke, Peyton and Allie.

In her free time Jo enjoys shopping, spending time with her family and watching her girls play sports.

Dr. Teresa Dye

Dr. Teresa Dye grew up on a farm in western Nebraska where she realized her love of animals and desire to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She attended the University of Nebraska and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Kansas State University in 1994. She completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in 1996.

Dr. Dye has spent the majority of her veterinary career working in specialty veterinary medicine. She completed a surgical residency at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital and an internal medicine residency at the Veterinary Referral Center of Colorado. She also obtained additional training in ultrasound through the Sound DVM imaging program. After working in a busy specialty practice in the Denver area for several years, Dr. Dye returned to western Nebraska where she enjoys reading ultrasounds for Oncura Partners and performing on-site ultrasounds and consultations for practices in the local area. She is also actively involved in her
family’s beef cattle operation.

Dr. Jack Klase

Dr. Jack Klase grew up on a ranch near Hyannis, Nebraska working with his father and grandfather. His grandfather also shared his love of photography with Jack which he continues to this day focusing mostly on landscapes and wildlife. He currently lives in Boulder Colorado with his wife Judy and terrier Gracie. They married in 1992 and they have two boys. Benjamin and his wife Emily live in Boulder and he is pursuing a degree in accounting. Samuel lives in New York City and is a tattoo artist.

Dr. Klase got his veterinary degree from Kansas State University in 1992. He has worked in small animal clinics and mixed animal clinics over his career. Dr. Klase has been a relief veterinarian for the last twenty years helping multiple clinics in the western part of Nebraska.
